Planning for an upcoming vacation can be almost as exciting as taking the trip itself. Deciding which excursions you'll go on, writing out the itinerary, and researching to find all of the best restaurants in the city you're going to can be so fun that you almost hate for the process to end. If you've taken vacations in the past and haven't been too pleased with the lodging that you selected, you definitely want to do it better this time. Use these tips when you want to select a hotel that you will absolutely love.

Pictures Don't Tell the Full Story

In an age where Photoshop rules nearly every image that you see, it's important for you to avoid being fooled by great graphics. Pictures usually provide you with your very first introduction to a particular hotel, but you should aim to make your decision off of more concrete information.

When hotels advertise online, they will typically post their best pictures. If there are newly renovated rooms on the property, those are the images that will be paraded as the standard for that location. If you do a bit more digging, you might discover that only a few rooms have been completed, and the booking that you are making will be for a room that looks nothing like the ones you saw online.

Get serious about learning as much about the hotel as you possibly can. Get real-world reviews and try to find un-retouched photos on websites that are totally unconnected to the resort you're looking at.

Make Your Preferences Known

After you've been out all day touring the city and taking in the various sights and sounds, you want to return to a room that is peaceful and cozy. Although you may have always thought the room you're given is totally random, you actually have a say in the matter.

When you're making your reservation, look for a place where you can list your room preferences. Maybe you want to be on the highest floor with a great view, or away from the elevators so your room will be as quiet as possible. You do have a say in the matter, and if your preferences are honored, you're sure to be much happier with your stay.

The hotel you select provides the foundation for your entire trip. Choose wisely and your vacation can be just as wonderful as you hope it will be. Check out hotels like Rodeway Inn & Suites for more information.
